She’s so hooked on feeling FHIT that she’s taken Fhitting Room on on many adventures across the globe through LIVE! and On Demand classes, from vineyards in Tuscany to iconic landmarks in Paris.No matter where she finds herself, she can rely on Fhitting Room to deliver an efficient, effective, and fun workout that knows no boundaries. 1. How did you discover Fhitting Room and what was your first impression?
During September 2016, I lived on 16th between 6th and 7th. I was walking in my neighborhood looking for a gym and Fhitting Room Flatiron was the only one that really caught my eye. I walked in, was warmly greeted, and given a tour. I participated in class that following Saturday, and the rest is history. I was hooked from my first FHIX. The energy was so strong, positive, and comfortable and the instructors were so kind, knowledgeable, and professional. I had never experienced the combination of excellence and professionalism in such a warm and inclusive environment. I couldn’t wait to get back.
2. What keeps you coming back so consistently?
The energy – of our instructions, of the studio, of my classmates, of the overall experience. It’s the combination that makes it so special. And, the fact that I am stronger than ever, and have finally healed some long-term injuries through consistent effort and the care and diligence of our Fhitting Room instructors. I know they truly care about each of us, and our well-being – which is such an awesome feeling!
3. How do you find time in your busy schedule to get your FHIX? How many places have you taken a virtual FHIX?
I always make time for Fhitting Room and arrange my schedule according to geography and time zones. When I’m in New York, I always schedule an in-person FHIX. When I’m traveling, I get my FHIX in LIVE! or On Demand which I’ve enjoyed in some amazing locations: Italy (a vineyard in Tuscany, the islands of Ponza and Ischia), France (a hotel across from Versailles, Paris, Cannes), London, St. Lucia, Mexico, Greece, Ireland, Florida, Charleston SC, Newport RI, Gloucester MA. I could go on. I love that I can get an efficient effective fun workout in, anywhere in the world! And, I’m super excited for the geographic expansion happening as a result of the NYSC acquisition.
4. Favorite FHIT memory?
There are so many to choose from so I’m listing a few: (1) my very first class with Eric and Dara, (2) when I was able to jump onto a 32” box, (3) when I did 55 burpees in a row during Survival of the FHITest, (4) when we launched the first Live! class at the beginning of the pandemic, and (5) when I took my first class after my dad went to heaven – the care and support from the instructor and my classmates was so special.
5. Advice to someone interested in trying Fhitting Room?
Just do it. Taking my first Fhitting Room class is one of the best things I’ve ever done (and those of you who know me know I’ve done some really cool things in my life!) I couldn’t even lift a weight over my head when I first walked in. But, the instructors were so kind, encouraging, and inclusive that I felt like I could do anything. It’s the environment and energy that make Fhitting Room different and more meaningful than any other fitness experience I’ve had. It’s hard to describe in words and images – you gotta feel it for yourself!
6. How do Fhitting Room workouts translate into your daily life?
I believe that the gym is a metaphor for life, and if you can strive for one more rep, one more jump, a higher weight, in the gym, then you are preparing yourself to soar and excel in everyday life. I push myself during Fhitting Room, so I can continue to grow, learn, evolve, and strive for excellence in my daily life – with work, my relationships, and my daily activities. Fhitting Room helps me break barriers, and catapult to the next level, both mentally and physically.
7. How do Fhitting Room classes make you feel physically + mentally?
It make me feel like I can do, be, or have anything in the world. Those first few minutes after class ends are so empowering, and keep me coming back. I know that starting my day with Fhitting Room means it will not only be a great day, but that I’ll be able to gracefully handle anything that comes my way. I think taking a Fhitting Room class is one of the most elevated forms of meditation – to clear your mind and reset your energy. Fhitting Room is extremely important to me. From the first minute I walked in I knew it was different. My Fhitting Room experience has been a crucial source of support during some of the biggest challenges in my life. This community helped keep me going. Consistently knowing there was an inspiring, healthy FHITfam waiting for me each morning was the motivation I needed to continue. And, I have finally conquered a few long-term injuries that were holding me back thanks to the superior knowledge and care of the instructors.
