Looking for a sweet treat to beat the heat? Look no further.
For this week’s #SmoothieSunday, we’re featuring Fhitting Room trainer Mel’s favorite frozen recipe. A peanut butter connoisseur, Mel’s peanut butter berry banana smoothie is sure to fill you up and curb your sweet tooth.
Mel’s Berry Banana Smoothie:
🍌 1 frozen banana
🍓 1/2 cup frozen strawberries or blueberries
🐄 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
🍃 Handful of spinach
🥜 2 Tbsp powdered peanut butter
💦 Water + ice
The Greek yogurt and peanut butter powder are both great protein sources, meaning this recipe is sure to leave you feeling satisfied post-slurp.
Whether you opt for the strawberries or the blueberries, your smoothie will come with a blast of benefits. Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamins C and K. The fiber and fructose content of strawberries helps regulate blood sugar levels. Blueberries are full of vitamin C and fiber, and can even help reduce blood cholesterol levels.
Not a fan of eating your greens? This smoothie is perfect for you. You can’t fully taste the spinach, but you’ll still reap its benefits. Rich in antioxidants, spinach can help combat the risk of cancer. The leafy green is also a great source of vitamins A, B2, C, and K. Eating a handful a day is an easy way to pack a lot of nutrients in a small amount.
If these numerous benefits don’t convince you to give Mel’s smoothie a go, we think it’s delicious taste will!
