4 Ways to Get Fit for Spring

Summer is coming and our FHIX is one of the most effective and efficient ways to get extremely fit fast. However, you can’t decide to start double-timing burpees the week before Memorial Day and expect to have rock-hard abs and perfectly toned arms at the beach.

Our goal at The Fhitting Room is to help all FHIXers feel their best by encouraging them to step (or jump or lunge or burpee) outside their comfort zone, break through fitness plateaus and experience the beneFHITs of a FHIX in everything they do.

In the spirit of “Spring cleaning”, we’ve come up with this guide of simple spring FHIXes to add to your everyday routine to ensure that you HIT the beach this summer looking and feeling more FHIT than ever!

Sweat FHIX:

Congratulations, you’ve successfully survived what seemed like one of the longest, coldest winters EVER. But as a devoted FHIXer, you know we don’t like to rest on our accomplishments. It’s time to kick it into high gear because when the suns out, the guns come out! If you’re having trouble motivating or not getting the results you want, try some of these tips to spice up your FHIX!

Grab a friend, significant other, family member or coworker and get your sweat on together!

Sometimes a new pair of sneakers can be just what the doctor ordered! Just as your body has been transforming over months of FHIXing, so too have your sneakers. Ditch the warn out ones, do yourself a favor and get a fresh pair so you can prevent injuries and continue to progress!

Even though we’re always encouraging FHIXers to stay active and remain committed to maintaining their FHITness, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take days off. Rest days are just as important as days when you get your FHIX!

Feeling like you’ve hit a plateau in your training? Instead of always reaching for the same kettlebell or dumbbell weights, try increasing them. Eric tells FHIXers to “increase your weights when you feel you have a few more reps in you. You should feel a struggle on the last few.”

Health FHIX:

Can’t remember when your last physical was? It’s time for a checkup! For those of us who are constantly on the go, the doctor’s office is the last place you want to waste time waiting around. However, it’s an essential part of living FHIT! We’re all about TOTAL BODY FHITness at TFR!

Fuel FHIX:

This spring we decided to check out the hype surrounding those little seeds that are creating some big excitement: Chia seeds. We were thrilled at what we found! FHITtingly, “Chia” is the Mayan word for strength. Its beneFHITs include: great source of soluble fiber, packed with omega 3 and protein, and they’ll keep your hair and skin looking just as FHIT as you are!

Spring also brings a fresh new batch of fruits and vegetables to add variety and essential nutrients to your diet.

Spring fruit FHIX: Apricots, avocados, carrots, cherries, grapefruit, kiwi, kumquats, lemons, mango, pineapple, navel oranges, strawberries

Spring veggie FHIX: Artichokes, arugula, asparagus, beets, fava beans, fennel, fiddleheads, green, leeks, lettuce, morels, nettles, spring onions, parsley, peas, radishes, rhubarb, scallions, spinach, swiss chard, turnips, watercress

Here’s a clean spring recipe that’s sure to be a total HIT, courtesy of LuliTonix!

Avocado Green FHIX

You’ll need:

16 ounces water

8 organic strawberries

a few organic dried figs (of any kind)

juice of ⅓ lemon

½ avocado

small handful organic basil

a few handfuls of organic baby spinach

small amount fresh peeled organic ginger or turmeric (optional if you like a slight kick)

Directions:

fill blender with water

blend greens first for 20 seconds or until blended

add remaining ingredients

Enjoy!

(Makes 2 servings)
