How To Find the Perfect Gym Bag for Your Lifestyle

When you live in New York City, it’s essential to have a good handbag or briefcase; but when you live a FHIT life, a great bag is crucial. Between commuting, working at the office, getting a workout in and socializing with your friends, you need a bag that can do it all. Keeping your gear organized and protected is key, as is comfort, and we would definitely argue that style is a factor in the gym-bag game as well. We’ve scoured stores and the internet for some of the best gym bags around, and we think we found something for everyone.

For the Fashionista
We love the Small Subway Tote by Rebecca Minkoff. In case you haven’t heard, she is the unofficial queen of handbags in NYC fashion. She also just recently introduced an athleisure line, and it is all kinds of awesome. This bag is washable, colorful, and includes lots of mesh pockets, even a removable pouch for organization of (maybe slightly stinky) gym clothes and accouterments. The bag is nylon and canvas, so you can either spray it with protectant and then wipe it clean for easy maintenance, or toss it in the washing machine. See it here!

For the Girl-Who-Does-It-All
The Om for All bag by Lululemon really does it all! It’s all black, which is simultaneously simple and chic, making it perfect to have by your side all day, even if you have an important meeting. This bag has a separate compartment for your sneakers (which, let’s be honest, is a big deal), a padded pocket for your laptop, and a strap to conveniently attach your yoga mat. Further, this bag is so spacious! We would even use it for a weekend getaway. See it here!

For the Sports Fanatic
Jets green, Giants blue, Nets black, or Knicks orange? No matter what team you support, rocking their colors is one of the best ways to show your pick. Nike is known for their sneakers, and understandably so, but that doesn’t mean they slack off when it comes to other gear. We love the Nike Team Training Max bag. It’s customizable, so sports fanatics can show off their pride no matter where they’re toting their stuff.  See it here!

For the Businessman
What’s not to love about this bag by Ben Sherman? It’s masculine and stylish, sharp for the boardroom, and cool for the gym. It can be carried by the handles for business, or attach the shoulder strap when heading to work out. The bag is spacious enough for sneakers, clothes, a water bottle, and whatever office supplies you may need that day. It is faux-leather, which means it has boardroom looks, but easy wipe-clean maintenance. See it here!

For the Student
Of course, no gym-bag list is complete without a good backpack. This Router Backpack from Northface is ideal at the gym, and on campus. With a fleece-lined laptop pocket, several smaller zip-up pockets, and a lot of breathable mesh compartments, this bag has a space for everything! The main compartment is huge, the straps are comfy, and the back is padded. Bonus? This bag has two water bottle compartments; one for water after your workout, and a second for coffee before class. What more could you ask for? See it here!

For Everyone
Our favorite days, albeit somewhat rare, are the ones when we leave home only to workout. In that case, all you need are your keys, phone, wallet, water bottle, and maybe a few other bits of personal miscellany. This Adidas Alliance II Sack Pack is the perfect bag for those simple days. It’s main compartment holds anything bulky, and there’s a separate zippered compartment for smaller items and valuables. We especially love that it takes up zero space when not in use. See it here!
