The Perfect Post-Workout Recipe: Banana Açaí Protein Smoothie

What goes together better than smoothies and summer?

Because Sundays are for self-care, we're launching a new series: #SmoothieSunday! Stay tuned each week as we feature a new smoothie recipe from some of our favorite trainers.

This week, we're trying Farouk's banana açaí smoothie. Read on to learn how to make his favorite post-workout recipe:

Farouk's Banana Açaí Smoothie:
🍌 1 whole banana 
🍇 1/2 packet of frozen açaí 
glass-of-milk_1f95b  6oz almond milk 
❄️ Handful of ice cubes
💪 1 tbsp peanut protein powder 
peanuts_1f95c  2 tbsp almond butter
🍨 1 scoop of 100% whey vanilla protein powder
spoon_1f944 Dash of cinnamon
😄 Handful of smiles
🌪 Blend for :30 seconds

The protein in this smoothie recipe helps aid in post-workout recovery, but the benefits don't stop there!

Açaí berry is a superfood loaded with antioxidants that help neutralize free radicals in the body (you know, those things that can damage cells and lead to disease). Plus, they contain a ton of fiber, which aids in digestion.

Beyond the berry, bananas are full of magnesium, a key ingredient in preventing muscle soreness after a day at the gym. They're full of potassium too, another key to aiding muscle recovery. The fruit is also full of folate, which helps serotonin enter the brain faster.

Cinnamon, if you didn't know, is a spice made from the inner bark of trees known as Cinnamomum. Cinnamon, like açaí, is loaded with antioxidants. It also helps reduce the risk of heart disease because it lowers "bad" cholesterol levels (LDL) and increases the "good" (HDL). 

Aside from its delicious taste, these numerous health benefits make Farouk's favorite recipe the ultimate super smoothie.
