Julia wears several hats – by day, she’s busy running the Marketing department for a digital advertising company, and by early morning/night, she’s teaching classes at The Fhitting Room. Having grown up doing gymnastics, she loves staying active and bouncing around; you just may see her pop into a handstand unexpectedly. You may also notice her southern roots come out when she drops a casual “y’all” into conversation. Her experience with weight training began at the age of 15, when her career in organized sports came to an end and she was forced to find another way to stay in shape. Her passion lies in helping others embrace a fit and healthy lifestyle. Julia received her B.A. in Economics from Duke University.
WHY DO YOU EMBRACE HIT?
HIT is never boring, always exhausting and 100% effective as far as getting results. I love that it combines both strength and endurance so that you truly are getting a complete workout. It also never seems to get easier because there is always a way to push yourself harder.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE EXERCISE TO EXPERIENCE HIT?
I know they’re one of the world’s most hated exercises, but I love burpees. There really is no other exercise that works every part of your body with absolutely no equipment. I also love box jumps, which may have something to do with proving that short girls can jump high too.
HOW DO YOU LIVE FHIT IN EVERYDAY LIFE?
I try to walk everywhere I can – to and from work, to the grocery store, to the gym – and feel fortunate to live in a city that allows me to do that. Living on the 6th floor of a walk-up also forces me to live FHIT every day, or else I’d never make it up to my apartment!
